Ecumenical Mysticism IV

An interesting network

In Robert Ellsberg’s book the name of the mystic and Saint Catherine of Genoa (Italian, 15th century) and that of the Catholic philosopher Friedrich von Hügel (Austrian, 20th century) are indicated. These two names are linked by the fact that Von Hügel wrote a biography of Saint Catherine of Genoa, highlighting the influence that Jacopone had exercised on her. This fact led the writer and mystic Evelyn Underhill (English, 20th century) of which Von Hugel was spiritual director, to write what is the first and most beautiful spiritual biography of Jacopone.
